How fast does your internet need to be for IPTV?

Most buffering has nothing to do with the app: the connection is simply too slow or unstable. Here is what you need.

Speed per quality

As a rule of thumb: about 5 Mbit/s for SD, about 10 Mbit/s for HD and about 25 Mbit/s for 4K, for every screen that is watching at the same time.

Stability matters more than peaks

A connection that drops briefly causes buffering even when a speed test looks fine. Test a few times, including in the evening.

Wi-Fi or cable?

Wi-Fi loses speed through walls and floors. A network cable, or an access point close to the TV, is the most reliable fix.

How to test properly

Run the speed test on the TV itself if it has a browser, or on a phone standing next to the TV, not next to the router.
